AXIS DEER HUNTING IN ARGENTINA

Axis Deer

Description

The Axis Deer (Axis axis) — also known as Chital and native to India — is considered one of the most beautiful animals in big game hunting.
Its reddish coat with white spots and long, symmetrical antlers, which can exceed 90 cm (35 inches), make it an unmistakable and highly sought-after trophy.

Adult males weigh between 70 and 120 kg (155–265 lb) and usually move in groups, which increases the hunting challenge due to their high level of alertness.
During the rutting season, males emit a distinctive call that helps locate them in the field.

Hunting at Hunting La Paz

Across our 20,000+ hectares (50,000 acres) of free-range land in La Pampa, Axis Deer inhabit open plains and low bushlands, grazing in large herds.

The hunt is carried out on foot (Spot & Stalk), with carefully planned and silent approaches to avoid detection.
They are extremely wary, with excellent eyesight and quick reflexes — demanding patience, stealth, and precision.

Typical shooting distances range between 80 and 120 meters, using natural cover or timing the shot as the herd moves through open terrain.
